Hungry Planet Burger™ Cooking Tips

Hungry Planet Burger™ patties come frozen so please defrost in refrigerator overnight or for several hours to highly chilled. Brush patties liberally with oil and season with at least salt and pepper before cooking. Our chefs will use Montreal Steak Seasoning, Lawry’s, or their own signature spice blend. Please note: our beef must be seasoned; the burger’s intentional mild flavor is made specifically to receive your unique seasoning.

Thawing - The burger patties can take several hours to thaw in the refrigerator, depending on temperature. Keep product highly chilled until cooking. DO NOT speed thaw, such as putting the product under running water or microwaving, or allow patties to come to room temperature, as this compromises texture.

Grill / Flat Top - Heat grill to 350°F and brush with oil. Grill seasoned, highly chilled patty 4-5 minutes per side. Internal temperature should reach 160°F when done. To further enhance flavor, our chefs recommend brushing the cooked patty with a little oil right before serving.

Pan Searing - Heat oil in nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot, place seasoned, highly chilled patty in hot skillet, cover and reduce heat to medium-low for 4-5 mins per side. To guard against overcooking, think of it more as a thermal rise. Internal temperature should reach 160°F when done.

Baking - Preheat oven to 400°F for a conventional oven, or 350°F for a convection. Place seasoned, highly chilled patty on well oiled or sprayed pan and bake 8-10 minutes per side. Internal temperature should reach 160°F when done. To further enhance flavor, lightly brush cooked patties with oil right before serving.

Impinger or Conveyor Oven - Place highly chilled, seasoned patties on oiled pan and brush top of patties with oil. Send through 400℉ impinger or conveyor oven set at an appropriate speed. To further enhance flavor, lightly brush the cooked patty with a little oil right before serving.

cooking tips

Deep Frying - Deep fry from frozen until golden brown and internal temperature is 160°F, approximately 5 minutes depending on the temperature of the oil. This is our recommended method.

Pan Searing - In a medium size nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat. When oil is hot, place slightly thawed (center is still frozen) patties in skillet, cover and reduce heat to medium-low for 4-5 mins per side. Internal temperature should reach 160°F and patties should be golden brown.

Baking - Preheat oven to 400°F for a conventional oven, or 350°F for a convection. Place slightly thawed (center is still frozen) patties on well oiled or sprayed pan and and bake 8-10 minutes per side, flipping halfway through. Internal temperature should reach 160°F when done. This method will not brown the patties as well as deep frying or pan searing.

Thawing - Hungry Planet™ patties come frozen and should never be fully thawed, as the breadcrumbs could become soggy. To slightly thaw patties, put frozen patties into the refrigerator for 6-8 hours prior to cooking. DO NOT speed thaw (i.e. microwave, run under warm water) as this compromises the texture.
